Algerian team: when Belaili thought of stopping his career

Youcef Belaili had a hard time digesting the elimination of the national team from the next World Cup. A failure that almost prompted him to put an end to his career. Between staying at Stade Brestois or leaving, he has not yet decided. But one thing is certain, he will remain in Ligue 1 Uber Eats next season.

The left winger of the national team returns to the disappointment of March 29. Seeing his dream of playing the World Cup with the Greens evaporate, he had seriously considered ending his career. “We were stunned and above all disappointed for the Algerian people, to whom we always try to bring them joy. Alas, that day, we failed in our mission to go to the 2022 World Cup… I saw our dream of going to the World Cup evaporate a few seconds before the end of the match. My morale was at rock bottom afterwards, because 4 years of work had gone up in smoke. Frankly, I was even thinking of putting an end to my football career altogether… I no longer wanted to play football, “he said in a long interview with our colleagues from “Competition”.

It must be said that the player had the support of everyone. His parents, his relatives or his teammates at Stade Brestois were able to dissuade him. “Their support lifted my spirits. I thank everyone, because I say it and repeat, I was in a black hole”, he indicated.

He persists and signs: “I will stay in the French Ligue 1 next season”

Regarding his future, Youcef Belaïli has not decided anything yet. He reveals that negotiations with the Brestois stadium for the renewal of the contract are still in progress.

“We are currently in negotiations to sign a new contract. It remains to be seen now what fate has in store for us, ”he said. But one thing is certain, he will remain in the French Ligue 1 next season. “When I signed in Brest, my goal was to show myself in L1. I believe I managed to do it. Yes, why not play in a team of another standing, whatever priority is given to Brest… In my head, it’s decided, I want to continue playing in France, there’s no debate there- on it,” he added.

Remember that Youcef’s father, Hafid Belaili, revealed about two weeks ago that his son is coveted by OGC Nice, LOSC Lille and FC Toulouse. Obviously, it is after the training course of the national selection that the player should decide on his future.
