Belmadi’s plan to rebuild the national team

Rejuvenation but also changes are needed within the workforce of the national team. After deciding to continue the adventure with the Greens, Djamel Belmadi is preparing an ambitious project so that the national team regains its aura during the next deadlines.

The page of the disillusion experienced against Cameroon on March 29 at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium in Blida is definitely turned. Admittedly, Djamel Belmadi still cannot digest this failure after about three and a half years of work, where he was able to make his way to glory and thus make the Algerian national team one of the best on the continent, but he decided to continue the adventure with the Greens after leaving the suspense hanging for several weeks.

With about a month and a half before the start of the qualifiers for the next CAN-2023, everyone expects heads to fall from Belmadi’s list. Some players could even announce their international retirement given their advanced age, among others Raïs Wahab M’bolhi, Adlène Guedioura or Sofiane Feghouli. Faced with this situation, and in the process of rejuvenating the workforce of EN, several young players should be retained from the next stage. “Anyway, qualifying or not, a lot was going to happen after this campaign. We are constantly thinking about how to make the group a more efficient group. So it’s more on that that we will base ourselves, the reconquest of our level, we know that. At present, there is no easy match in Africa (…) We are in the eternal questioning, so obviously it will be on the agenda, obviously there will be a workforce that will evolve . We are trying to be stronger, whether with the group, the working method, the game ideas, ”said the national coach in his last media release.

And there should be changes in the workforce. “Obviously, there were players who were present against Cameroon and who will not be in June. But there will also be a core that has been affected, because the players wanted this qualification. We will have to reinvent ourselves, bring back the strength to the project we want to put in place and we will have to adhere to that. There will be the advent of players, who will have to do as Belaïli, Bounedjah, Youcef Atal, Benlamri and Bennacer did in their time. These are players who started playing with us,” he added.

We prepare the succession

More quality binational players evolve in Europe and who are in the sights of Djamel Belmadi. He could well call on some of them from the next stage of the national selection.

“I call on the players who are going to join us to be in the same state of mind and show that they have the level to go and do great things. I invite them to come and take places in the selection, there will be no gifts, ”he said.

Our Competition colleagues have unveiled the list of players followed by Algeria. We find there Amine Gouiri (Nice), Rayan Aït-Nouri (Wolverhampton), Yacine Aldi (Bordeaux / AC Milan), Romain Faivre (OL), Akim Zedadka (Clermont) or Anthony Mandrea (Angers). Quality players capable of injecting new blood into the national team given the enormous potential they enjoy and that all observers predict a promising future for them.
