Covid-19 in Algeria: the results of this July 22 include one death

Covid-19: what is the new variant detected in Algeria?

Speaking on Radio Constantine this Friday morning, Doctor Salim Benteldjoune, head of the Coronavirus department at the University Hospital of Constantine, said that the new variant of Covid-19 is a sub-variant of Omicron. This is the BA.5 variant.

Present in Algeria for four weeks, according to the same speaker, this new variant affects the elderly, non-vaccinated people or those with chronic diseases. It remains present in the body for a period ranging from 7 to 10 days.

Furthermore, and concerning the symptoms of the BA.5 variant, Doctor Salim Benteldjoune explained that these are the usual symptoms of Coronavirus. However, BA.5 has other clinical signs, including night sweats, sore throat, vomiting, and diarrhea.
