Israeli attacks in El Quds: Tebboune challenges the UN

The beginning of Ramadan, the holy month of Muslims, was marked by a series of attacks carried out by Israeli forces against Palestinians in El Quds. Faced with this situation, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune did not hesitate to challenge the United Nations (UN).

In a letter to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Head of State Abdelmadjid Tebboune called on the United Nations to “act urgently to provide the necessary protection to Palestinian civilians and their holy sites in accordance with international law”.

“The attacks committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the sacredness of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the violence they exert on the defenseless worshipers are once again a reminder of the systematic violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms” , wrote President Tebboune.

“These serious developments, which take place in a tense international context, exacerbate instability in the Middle East region and further hamper the prospect of a just and definitive solution to the Palestinian question. These recurrent practices which recur every year during the holy month of Ramadhan reveal the repression exerted by the occupation on Palestinian civilians who, by their resistance and their sacrifices, command respect”, he added.

Tebboune insists on a “peaceful and just solution”

In the same letter, President Tebboune reiterated his call for the settlement of the Palestinian crisis through a just and peaceful solution.

“These unjustified tragic conditions underscore the inevitability of a peaceful and just solution, as the international community continues to affirm, through its commitment to the need to respond to the inalienable national rights of the Palestinian people, at the head of of which, its right to establish its independent nation-state with Al Quds as its capital”, launched the Head of State

“Faced with these excesses suffered by the Palestinian people, the United Nations must respond forcefully to the demand for the right to life and realize the justice advocated by peaceful demonstrations. I would like you to pay particular attention to these developments and to encourage the Security Council to take charge of this worrying situation, with a view to taking the appropriate measures that it requires,” he added.
