List of Belmadi CAN-2023 qualifiers: 4 names are likely to fall

Algerian supporters are awaiting the list of players concerned by the first two days of qualifying for CAN 2023. It will be unveiled by national coach Djamel Belmadi in ten days and it is expected that no less than four “heavy” names will miss the next two important meetings awaiting the Greens.

During his last media outing, national coach Djamel Belmadi promised to make a major reshuffle within his workforce in anticipation of the next deadlines. While some players are sure to stay, others will no doubt be pushed aside, i.e. those who miss playing time and who are in difficulty with their resident clubs.

Belmadi still hovers in suspense regarding the list he will unveil in a few days in anticipation of the first two days of the CAN 2023 qualifiers, respectively against Uganda and Tanzania, scheduled for next June. The least we can is that we expect big names who will be dismissed by the national coach for purely technical reasons.

Benlamri, Feghouli, Bounedjah and Slimani in the hard

Among the names that should not appear in the list of Djamel Belmadi next June, we can mention Djamel Benlamri, Sofiane Feghouli, Baghdad Bounedjah and Islam Slimani. Players who are in difficulty with their clubs and lack game time in the legs for various reasons.

For Benlamri, he is currently without a club after terminating his contract with Qatar SC a few weeks ago. It will not be competitive by June, it is a certainty, and faced with this situation, Belmadi could dismiss it. ES Tunis defender Mohamed-Amine Tougaï is the best suited to replace him.

As for Feghouli, he lacks regularity in the game. While Galatasaray has decided not to renew his contract, the player seems to have his head elsewhere thinking of the club he will join from next summer to bounce back.

For Bounedjah and Slimani, they are having a hard time with their respective clubs, Al-Sadd (Qatar) and Sporting Portugal. No longer part of the plans of their coaches, the two attackers also lack playing time and it remains very possible for them to be dismissed during the first two days of the CAN-2023 qualifiers. It remains to be seen now which players will retain Belmadi to replace the two attackers in question.
