Presidency of the FAF: 2 big candidates start the race

The succession to Charaf Eddine Amara for the presidency of the FAF will ultimately be disputed between two people. Only Djahid Zefizef and Abdelhakim Serrar have applied for the elective general meeting on July 7th. It remains to be seen which of them will take up the seat of Dely Brahim’s structure for the rest of the 2021-2025 term.

The succession to Charaf-Eddine Amara was launched on June 16. All the suitors worked behind the scenes but above all in total discretion. Finally, only two people applied for the next elective GA. As expected, they are Djahid Zefizef and Abdelhakim Serrar.

Indeed, it was only a few hours before the end of the deadline for submitting applications that Zefizef and Serrar took action. Yesterday at the beginning of the evening, around 7:20 p.m., Djahid Zefizef appeared on the side of Dely Brahim’s seat. With his application file, the general manager of the FAF was accompanied by several well-known figures on the national football scene. We cite, among others, the former CEO of the ESS Azzedine Arab (mandated by O Médéa, editor’s note), the president of the regional league of Oum El-Bouaghi Mohamed Ghouti or the leader of AS Ain M’lila Houssem-Eddine Harkat. Mohamed Maouche and Hakim Medane will be part of the federal office of the candidate in question.

It was 7:50 p.m. when the other suitor Abdelhakim Serrar marked his presence at the headquarters of the first instance of national football. But unlike Zefizef, he was accompanied only by his driver. According to the information that has reached us, the office of the current president of ESS is made up of several former players. We cite in particular the two emblematic players Lakhdar Belloumi and Tadj Bensaoula.

The two candidates display their ambition

After filing their nomination papers, both contenders gave statements to the media. They are already showing their ambitions at the head of the FAF.

“I have officially applied for the presidency of the FAF. I just submitted my application. My program is to develop Algerian football. My office is made up of young people and I hope to succeed in my mission if I am elected president”. Dira Djahid Zefizef.

“Mohamed Raouraoua’s withdrawal prompted me to submit my application. Having an emblematic player like Belloumi in my office is a source of pride. My goal is to put my experience at the service of national football. Regarding the national selection A, Belmadi is best placed to manage the technical aspect. Serrar speaks.

The elective general meeting of the FAF will take place on July 7th. It remains to be seen whether Zefizef or Serrar will be elected as the new president. He will succeed Charaf-Eddine Amara for the remainder of the 2021-2025 term.
