Algerian athletes pursue their distinction in the Mediterranean Games Oran-2022. They still offer gold, thanks to Kouceila Mammeri and Youssef Sabri in badminton as well as Bachir Sid Azara in Greco-Roman wrestling. In the same event, Abdelkrim Ouakali and Ishak Rhayo won the silver medals. In karate do, Houcine Daïkhi was content with money.
The Mediterranean Games continue in Oran. Algerian athletes once again distinguished themselves yesterday. Indeed, they have enriched the record of our country with three new gold and three silver medals.
The first distinction of the day yesterday was in badminton. The duo Kouceila Mammeri and Youssef Sabri offer historic gold. They took over the Spanish duo Luis Enrique Perrera and Pablo Ebian Wisen (2-1). The other distinction was the work Bachir Sid Azara in the Greco-Roman specialty. He won the final against the Italian Mirco Mingese (5-0). In the same event, Oukali Abdelkrim (77 kg) and Ishak Rhayo (67 kg) settled for silver. In karate do Hussein Daïkhi (+ 84 kg), he was also content with silver. He lost the final to Croatian Andilo Kevisic.
With this new positive balance, Algeria remains at the top of the JM Oran-2022 ranking. She still dominates the Mediterranean event with 10 medals in total, including 6 gold and 4 silver.
Several Algerian athletes shine
Several Algerian athletes in different events are still in contention. They are aiming for medals in order to consolidate Algeria’s place at the top of the standings.
The Algerians made a start on a good note in boxing. Imène Khelif (63 kg) and Chouaïb Bouloudinet (91 kg) qualified for the semi-finals. As for their compatriots Mordjene Oussama (57 kg) and Abdelmalek Benaribi (60 kg), they validated their qualifying ticket for the quarter-finals at the Palais des Sports in the M’dina Jedida district (new town) in Oran.
In Rafle, the Algerian national team (men) qualified for the team semi-finals at the expense of Turkey (12-10). Same for the women’s team. Pétanque duo Abdeldjalil and Ouaghlissi Fayçal also qualified for the quarter-finals after eliminating Morocco.
In the long game, the player Boufettah Sid-Ahmed will participate in the semi-final match. The player Mohamed Fayçal Ouaghlissi also continues to distinguish himself by advancing to the semi-finals in precision shooting, after his victory over the Frenchman Lucas Desport in the final time.
Finally, the men’s handball team made a successful debut. She took over Turkey (32-27).
