UN: Saudi Arabia says it is ready to support Algeria

Today, Thursday May 19, 2022, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

According to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic, the reception took place at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamarathe director of the cabinet of the presidency of the Republic, Abdelaziz Khalef as well as the ambassador of Algeria in Riyadh, Mohmed Ali Boughazi.

Saudi Arabia backs Algeria for UN seat

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saudconfirmed to the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Saudi Arabia’s support for Algeria’s aspiration to obtain a seat on the UN Security Council.

The Saudi Foreign Minister said that the consensus between the two countries is very clear on important issues that concern the two countries, and which also concerns regional and international security issues. The Saudi Foreign Minister also indicated that he had spoken with the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, of mutual support in terms of joint international action.
