Visas refused and internship canceled: the USMA in the midst of an internal crisis

At the USMA, it’s the crisis! Coach Jamil Benouahi and a group of players dropped a bombshell this morning. They boycotted the trip to Turkey to do the off-season internship. The coach risks being sacked from his duties.

The USMA Rouge et Noir were to fly to Turkey this morning to complete the second training camp for the off-season. But the trip was eventually canceled. Contrary to all expectations, the club’s first technical bar manager Jamil Benouahi and a group of players did not show up at Algiers airport.

According to several Algerian media, coach Benouahi challenged the nonchalance of the management for not having been able to obtain visas for his deputy Nassim Sefraoui. Ditto for the two players Mustapha Bouchina and Khalil Darfalou. As for the players, they decided to skip the trip as a sign of protest because of the non-regulation of their financial situation.

It must be said that those responsible are doing everything to defuse the bomb. In other words, they tried to dissuade the boycotters, but in vain.

It should be noted that another USMA group was present this morning at Algiers airport. This is the member of the technical staff Sofiane Benkhelifa, the new recruits and the hopeful players. But the trip was eventually canceled due to the absence of the head coach and several team executives.

Benouahi sacked?

USMA officials hosted a press conference at the Ain Benian Hotel and Restaurant School. An opportunity to tell their version but above all to clarify things about this affair which has caused a lot of ink to flow.

“Benouahi created pretexts for reasons unknown to me. And yet, he was promised to solve the visa problem in 48 hours. I met him last night at the hotel, but he spoke to me in a high tone… We even decided to proceed with a partial regularization of the situation of the players. Here are the transfer orders, you can see them… The course is canceled and this will cause enormous financial damage. We paid 1 billion 300 to Air Algérie as well as the visa fees and our hotel stay in Turkey. This reflects a bad image for the USMA which is reputed to be a stable club”. Says the director general of the USMA, Réda Abdouche.

“The club’s board of directors will apply the regulations in force. The coach is suspended as a precaution. He is not sacked, but he is forbidden to practice until his hearing before the club’s disciplinary committee… It is Benkhelifa who will take over the interim, while waiting to take the necessary decisions”. Indicates the CEO.

But obviously, the end clap is looming on the horizon for the Belgian-Moroccan technician. It will absolutely not be to the taste of the supporters who greatly appreciate the coach. The latter managed to make his way to glory at the end of the past season, leading the USMA to finish the championship in 4th place, synonymous with participation in the CAF Cup in the next exercise.
